As reported in the Federal State Statistics Service, citizens with incomes below the subsistence minimum in the first quarter was 24.5 million, thus the number of poor increased by 32% - because of last year the figure was 18.5 million people. The poverty rate in Russia in 2008 was 13,1% and in the first quarter of this year, the poor accounted for 17.4% of the population. At the same time a year ago, in the first quarter of last year, the number of poor Russians were 23 million people, 16,3% of the population. Recall that, as previously reported statvedomstvo, reducing incomes of our compatriots in real terms over the first quarter of 2009 amounted to 2,3% over the same period of 2008. At the same time, inflation in January-March amounted to 5,4%. Note, however, that in the first quarter of the number of poor citizens of the country is traditionally the highest. For example, in January-March 2007, the poverty rate stood at 18.3% (25,800,000 people), but for the whole year has amounted to 13,4% (18,9 million). However, following this year's poverty rate is expected to be higher than a year earlier. So, this spring, Ministry of Economic Development predicted the figure at 14%. Moreover, the next three years is also not allowed to return to 2008 levels - so, in 2010 the poverty line may be 13,9-14% of the citizens of the country in 2011 -13,7-13,9% in 2012 -13,3-13,7%. According to the Federal State Statistics Service, in the first quarter of this year, the cost of living in Russia amounted to 5,083 rubles. per person per month, including working-age population - 5497 rub., for pensioners - 4044 rub. for children - 4857 rubles. For the same period last year the figure was 4,402 rubles. In this case, the cost of consumer basket averaged 4,745 rubles per person per month, while spending on mandatory payments and fees - 338 rubles. Well, in comparison with the fourth quarter of 2008 subsistence minimum had increased by 8,3%. In January-March for the whole country per capita cash income was 13,971 rubles. per month (275% of the subsistence minimum) against 12,375 rubles. (281%) for the same period last year. The average monthly salary of Russians in the first quarter amounted to 17,441 rubles., In I quarter 2008 - 15,424 rubles. The average size of pensions in January-March amounted to 5,561 rubles.
